Abstract:

A novel acquisition algorithm for binary offset carrier (BOC) signals is developed, based on sub-peak superposition. First, by designing an auxiliary function and correlating it with the BOC signal, a correlation curve with two sub-peaks can be generated. After that, by shifting and superposing the sub-peaks, and then multiplying the superposition result with the BOC autocorrelation curve, a single-peak acquisition curve can be obtained that enables the unambiguous BOC acquisition. Compared with the existing BOC acquisition algorithms, the proposed one is universal and suitable for the BOC signal with any order. Meanwhile, it generates the acquisition curve with a narrower single peak, thereby yielding higher acquisition probability. Numerical simulations demonstrate the superior acquisition performance of the proposed algorithm.
