Analysis of electromagnetic scattering problems by combining FEBI with FETI method

Abstract:

The finite element boundary integral method (FEBI) uses both the finite element method (FEM) to analyze the complex materials inside the objects and the method of moments (MOM) to analyze the exterior surfaces of the objects in the open region, so the advantages of FEM and MOM are fully utilized in FEBI method. However, it is difficult to solve the electrically large size problems on a uniprocessor, which is faced with the difficulties that the operating speed is slow and the physical memory is insufficient, hence it is necessary to develop an effective parallel technology. Utilizing the inherent character that the domain decomposition method (DDM) is easy to be parallel computed, this paper proposes an efficient method, which solves the problem of insufficient hardware source by introducing the finite element tearing and interconnecting (FETI) to the FEBI method. This method has obvious advantages of dealing with the electrically large size problems whose interior unknown number is large and interior materials are complex. Numerical results of the presented examples demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of this method.
