Abstract: The problem of control for approach to uncontrolled tumbling satellites is researched, and an augmented proportional navigation controller is designed. Firstly, a three-dimensional relative motion equation of chaser and approximation points is established on the rotating coordinate system of the line of sight of the chaser. The attitude motion characteristics of the uncontrolled tumbling satellite are analyzed. The control of the line of sight of approximation points is introduced on the basis of the traditional true proportional navigation. The chaser is controlled by augmented proportional navigation based on feedback linearization. The correctness and good control performance of the designed augmented proportional navigation are verified by numerical simulation.
