Abstract:

The clutter model of airborne bistatic radars is established firstly, then the characteristics of clutter power spectrum are analyzed based on the presented clutter model, and the performance of maximum likelihood estimation is compared with that of other conventional methods. Finally, a novel method, i.e. registration based on maximum likelihood non-uniform frequency sampling (RBMLNFS), is proposed to compensate the clutter range dependence of the airborne bistatic radar. In the proposed method, the amplitude of clutter of the airborne bistatic radar is estimated by means of maximum likelihood estimation, and the registration of clutter spectra is completed by the selection of clutter spectrum centres of training samples based on non-uniform frequency sampling. The simulation results manifest that clutter nonhomogeneity of the airborne bistatic radar can be solved effectively using the proposed method.
