Abstract:

With the development of the military technology, the demand for the stealth aircrafts detection is increasing. A system is designed to detect aircraft by the faint discharge signals, which are unavoidable during the flight process. The experiments show that the electro-static dischargers (ESDs), which are fixed on the aircrafts, could turn the initially intense corona discharge into a soft and stable “rain pulse” discharge, while the ESD could decrease the peak power of discharge radiation by about 40 dB. Furthermore, the binary method after matched filtering is designed to enhance the detection ability of the system. By experiments and simulation, the detectable range is 5.06 to 50.6 km when the peak power of the discharge signal is -30 to -10 dBW.
