Abstract:

To improve the function, various types of real-life networks become more interdependent, however, it will cause serious damage if the security risk once outbreaks and continues to spread between subnets. In order to reduce the risk propagation in the coupled networks, a modified risk propagation model based on cellular automata is proposed for two-layered coupled networks, and a generic indicator for risk assessment and two protection strategies are presented. Then simulations analysis on three kinds of evolving network models and two real network models are performed. The results show that the risk propagation on the coupled network is mainly affected by the topology of subnets. WS-WS coupled networks have the best ability to resist risk propagation, while the SF-SF coupled networks do the worst. It may improve the risk invulnerability ability when some of the nodes are protected in the initial stages of the spread. The target protection strategy is slower in action speed, but better in inhibition of infection scale than the random protection strategy.
