Abstract:

Super-resolution processing of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images can concentrate target energy, improve image resolution and suppress speckle noise. Amplitude and phase estimation (APES) for monochannel data is extended to multichannel cases, which enables the super-resolution of polarimetric SAR images. Both K-distribution based detector for singlepolarized SAR images and SPAN/PWF based detectors for polarimetric SAR images are used to process real-collected SAR images. Finally, ship detection superiority of superresolution polarimetric SAR images via the multi-channel APES is demonstrated by analyzing the clutter statistical distribution, weak target detection ability, target region separability, target profile and topology structure extraction quality.
