Abstract:

Wideband radar target echo signals are distributed into many range resolution cells, which are named as range spread targets. Range spread targets signal are in harmonic wave process in range frequency domain after Fourier transform, in which amplitude, frequency and phases depend on the scatters strength and relative range to radars. The range spread targets detection is transformed to the harmonic wave number estimation. The harmonic wave number estimation algorithm for range spread targets detection with singular value decomposition-total least squares is presented and the performance of the detector is analyzed, which showes that the detector is a constant false alarm rate detector. Computer experiments with simulation and measured high range resolution profile data of airplanes show that the proposed detector outperforms the energy integration detector.
