Inter-satellite autonomous ranging based on PRN code

Abstract:

The high accuracy distance measurement between the satellites is the base of the relative positioning among satellites. A high accuracy inter-satellite ranging method based on half dataless pseudo-random noise (PRN) code is proposed. Firstly, the acquisition and tracking process in the in-phase branch without modulation data signals are completed. And then, the phase relationship between the in-phase and quadrature branches is used to demodulate quadrature branch signals and recover the information directly. By using noncommensurate sampling techniques and bandpass signal sampling theorem, the measurement accuracy reaches 4.6 mm in theory, and the simulation results indicate that the measurement accuracy is better than 2 cm under the situation where the signal-to-noise ratio SNR is -20 dB.
