Abstract:

Compared with adaptive beamforming techniques based on the whole array, the multiple side-lobe canceller (MSLC) has smaller computational load and more robust performance. Conventionally, the MSLC requires that there is no incident signal from the mainlobe direction for the adaptive weight training or otherwise the beam patterns start to degenerate. A novel MSLC design based on the subtraction of subarrays is proposed, which changes the correlation of signals between the main antenna and assistant ones by the linear array, to avoid the effect of mainlobe signals. Furthermore, two practical implements, the multiple subtraction MSLC and feedback subtraction MSLC are introduced. The simulation results show that the new method is robust and applicable to various situations for interferences suppressing and beam patterns maintaining.
