Abstract:

The method of moving target detection based on eigen-decomposition of the covariance matrix is proposed for single-antenna airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and the relationship between the eigen-decomposition and the moving target’s range velocity is analyzed. First the paper points out that the sub-image is obtained through frequency processing. Then the sensitivity of the moving target that is represented by the second eigenvalue of the covariance matrix is used to indicate the moving target. The relationship between the second eigenvalue and the moving target’s range velocity is presented. Through the theoretical deducing, the probability density function of the second eigenvalue of the covariance matrix is presented. Simulation results demonstrate that the method is effective.
