Abstract:

An improved penta-band planar inverted-F antenna design for mobile devices at those bands of GSM/DCS/PCS/UMTS/HIPERLAN/2 and IEEE 802.11a is presented. The main improvement was to increase the horizontal part of capacitor so as to control bandwidth which covers the interest frequency ranges by coupling, and also multi-frequencies was achieved due to the parasitic stacked elements to the patch correspondingly, resulting in the realization of penta frequencies with S11< -10 dB. FDTD method was also used for the antenna simulation, and as well as perfect agreement was achieved with experiments.
