Abstract:

A complete solution of high-frequency simulation and radar imaging for the maritime ship target is proposed. The high-precision three-dimensional geometric modeling of the maritime ship is performed, and the broadband backscattered field of the combined model is obtained by a high-frequency method based on physical optics (PO) with double bounce and incremental length diffraction coefficients (ILDC) theory, using a stepped frequency waveform. By performing an inverse discrete Fourier transform on the backscattered field data in the frequency domain, the time domain response is provided for the wide-band signal. Accordingly, the high resolution range profile (HRRP) and 2-D spotlight SAR image are obtained. Range characteristics and imaging mechanism are analyzed by means of the ray  theory in several examples, which may verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the simulation results.
