Abstract:

The existing pragmatic general multicast protocol (PGM) multicast congestion control mechanisms are difficult to satisfy the requirements of networks under various network enviroments. To overcome the limitation, a fuzzy-PID controlled multicast congestion control mechanism (FPIDMCC) is proposed. FPIDMCC introduces a fuzzy-PID controller between the source and the current limiting receivers (CLR). By using the proposed scheme, the sender  can response to network congestion rapidly, adjust the source's sending rate timely and bring it to be stable gradually. And FPIDMCC has well dynamic adaptability to satisfy the various requirements of networks. The fuzzy-PID controller combines the metrics of traditional PID controller and fuzzy inference scheme, thus reducing the dependence on system model. In addition, FPIDMCC can avoid the feedback explosion effectively by using the feedback control method based on the CLR and intermediate nodes aggregation. The simulation results show that FPIDMCC has well system stability, fast response speed and good  dynamic adaptability.
