Abstract:

An advanced unequal error protected (UEP) fountain code algorithm is proposed, combined with a scalable video coding (SVC) system, for fine-grain quality scalable (FGS) scalability of scalable video coding in order to protect the priority of FGS information in video stream transmission of network applications. Its purpose is to decode the sequence data of base layer and enhancement layer according to different probabilities exploiting the length-sensitive characteristics of the source information using the truncated different length data from base and enhancement layer. In the absence of feedback channel, the terminal recovers the original data at the maximum probability so that ensuring the priority of the base layer and improving the efficiency of the channel usage. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the UEP fountain code FGS system can achieve a good unequal data protection of base layer and enhancement layer, improve the performance of the traditional FGS system.
