Abstract: A scheme is presented by applying the sparse-matrix flat-surface iterative approach and canonical grid method(SMFSIA/CAG) to compute the electromagnetic scattering characteristics fast for 2-D fractal rough surface. In SMFSIA/CAG,to increase computational efficiency in solving the matrix equation, both the speed of the iterative convergence and the matrix-vector multiplication are picked up based on iterative theory. The extended formula of the high order Taylor’s series about the horizontal distance is derived. The relationship between the Taylor’s series or the neighborhood distance and the efficiency of the arithmetic are analyzed. The application of SMFSIA/CAG reduces the computational load,so it may solve the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of the 2-D fractal rough surface efficiently and accurately.
