Abstract:

The time varying baseline in distributed satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems makes it difficult to compensate the terrain interferometric phase and causes the coherence of the pair of SAR images to descend. For the purpose of overcoming the influence of the timevarying baseline, a compensation method based on the geometrical configuration of distributedsatellite SAR systems is proposed. The total least square algorithm  is applied to fit the track equations of the satellites. Then a new virtual parallel track is constructed with the parameters of the track equations. An equivalent constant baseline is obtained by the compensation of the path difference between the new and the original tracks. Simulation results illustrate that the coherence of the pair of SAR images and the performance of ground moving target indication are improved by the timevarying baseline compensation.
