Abstract:

Faced with dynamic network traffic and diverse user demands, existing routing protocol switching mechanisms lack dynamic adaptability. To address this, a routing protocol switching mechanism based on software for open networking in the cloud, which integrates resource awareness and intent refinement is designed. Resource awareness dynamically monitors key indicators such as computing resources and link status at each routing node, enabling real-time network situational awareness and feedback. Intent refinement converts users’ vague, high-level service requirements into measurable performance constraints and protocol preferences, driving adaptive protocol adjustments. The current research on routing protocol switching is firstly reviewed and the limitations in adaptability and flexibility of existing mechanisms are analyzed. Based on this, a decision model for protocol switching is constructed, incorporating resource awareness and intent translation, with an implementation process designed. Finally, experiments evaluate the mechanism’s response latency and communication overhead, and simulations in various traffic scenarios validate its feasibility. This research provides a novel solution to enhance the adaptability and flexibility of routing protocol switching in complex network environments.

Key words: routing protocol switching, software for open networking in the cloud, resource awareness, intent refinement
