Abstract:

Aimed at how to select appropriate causal discovery methods, calculate the strength of causal influence, and accurately locate root causes, firstly, different causal discovery methods are introduced, and their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed when applied to complex systems. Secondly, the calculation methods is explored for causal influence weights. Thirdly, a systematic overview of root cause localization methods for complex systems is provided. Next, the application areas of existing research is summarized, and the available datasets and tool platforms are listed. Then, the existing problems and challenges are identified from four aspects: the processing of observational data from complex systems, the design of causal discovery methods, the design of root cause localization methods, and the evaluation of root cause analysis results. Finally, the prospects for future research are provided from four aspects: data processing, causal discovery methods, root cause localization methods, and result evaluation and validation. This paper can serve as a reference for further in-depth exploration of root cause analysis in complex systems based on causal discovery.

Key words: causal inference, causal discovery, complex system, root cause analysis
