Abstract:
Oblique projection polarization filtering is a valid approach to suppress interference in highfrequency surface wave radar (HFSWR). The effect on the performance of oblique projection polarization filter by the biased estimation of the interference is analyzed. Compared with rangetime domain, it benefits from higher estimation accuracy and better interference suppression performance in rangeDoppler domain, due to the higher interference to noise ratio after Doppler processing. Therefore, a method for polarization cancellation of ionospheric clutter based on rangeDoppler domain is proposed in this work. Experimental result of practical dualpolarized HFSWR data demonstrates that the proposed method is effective for ionospheric clutter suppression and the signaltointerference ratio can be increased by more than 15 dB.
