Abstract:

Previous study on angular glint mostly focuses on dipoles or canonical targets in free space. However, the angular glint characteristic of radar targets over a rough surface background such as sea or earth is of more practical interest, and this will be studied in this paper. By employing the method of moments with the UV matrix decomposition technique (MOM-UV), the induced surface currents on the targets and the rough surface are obtained. Subsequently, the angular glint error is calculated precisely by using the phase gradient method. Moreover, the angular glint error contributions from different current components are compared and studied, which reveals the effects of the coupling on the angular glint error.
